JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the first time this season, a Jacksonville softball player has been named ASUN Player of the Week.

Sarah Beth Brake was given the Player of the Week honor after helping lead JU at the plate in a three-game sweep of West Georgia.
Brake combined for a 5-8 overall showing at the plate, with a double, two homers, three RBIs and four runs scored herself. The Troy transfer hit two of Jacksonville's six total homers over the weekend as Jacksonville defeated the Wolves 11-2 in six innings, 11-8 and 2-0.
West Georgia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first game of the series before Brake tied things up at two with her first homer of the weekend. She started the scoring in game two with a homer in the first to put Jacksonville ahead for good early. She struck out just once all weekend as well, while adding three walks.
In six games against the Wolves, Brake has four homers and seven total RBIs. This season, Brake leads the team in batting average (.414), hits (36), doubles (eight), homers (11) and RBIs (32).
Across the ASUN landscape, Brake is sixth overall in batting average, fifth in long balls and eighth in RBIs. Since ASUN play began, Brake is third in slugging (1.077), third in on base percentage plus slugging (1.577), fifth in RBIs (11) and tied for the lead league in home runs (five).
Brake and the rest of the 'Phins, coming off their first ASUN sweep of the season and second series win, stay at home to face FGCU starting Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
