JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University beach volleyball team extended its winning streak to five consecutive matches, the longest in program history, with two victories Friday at the UNF Invitational. The Dolphins defeated Florida International, 3-2, before earning a 4-1 win over Eastern Kentucky.
The two wins build on Jacksonville's victories last weekend over Eckerd, College of Charleston, and Mercer, marking the first five-match winning streak in program history.
Mrukowski & Hair Deliver at No. 1
Claire Mrukowski and Megan Hair anchored the Dolphins at the No. 1 position with a pair of victories. The duo opened the day with a hard-fought straight-set win over FIU's Drozd and Luoma, 21-17, 25-23. Later against Eastern Kentucky, they delivered a dominant performance, defeating Pitsigknoi and Armitage, 21-14, 21-4.
Perry & Taylor Stay Perfect on the Day
Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor added two wins at the No. 4 flight. They rallied past FIU's Prodan and Nye in three sets, 21-19, 15-21, 15-13, before closing out a straight-set victory over EKU's McAlister and Soles, 21-18, 24-22.
Martinez & Fielder Secure Key Points
Katie Martinez and Maddie Fielder also delivered two wins at the No. 5 position. The pair battled back to defeat FIU's Wade and Vildere in three sets, 17-21, 25-23, 15-11, and followed with a convincing straight-set win over EKU's Knack and Ferguson, 21-8, 21-13.
