BOCA RATON, Fla. – Jacksonville battled through a challenging Friday in Boca Raton, falling to FGCU and No. 15 Florida Atlantic in a pair of duals at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Dolphins (14-16) picked up a point in each match, competing closely in several flights but ultimately coming up short against a conference foe and a nationally ranked opponent.

Against FGCU, Jacksonville dropped a 4-1 decision despite a handful of tight contests. The Eagles grabbed momentum early with wins at flights two and three before clinching at four. JU's point came at the No. 5 position, where Maddie Fiedler and Katie Martinez rallied after dropping the opening set to win in three. At the top flight, Megan Hair and Claire Mrukowski forced a third set in a back-and-forth battle but were edged late.

In the afternoon, Jacksonville faced No. 15 Florida Atlantic, falling 4-1. The Owls controlled much of the dual, but the Dolphins responded at the No. 4 spot as Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor battled to a three-set win to secure JU's lone point. The No. 2 flight also went the distance, with Jamie Seward and Meredith Mrukowski pushing FAU before falling in a tight third set.
 

Jacksonville will look to bounce back tomorrow as the Dolphins continue play in Boca Raton, with Stephen F. Austin at 8:00 a.m. and the regular season finale vs #17 UNF at 2:00 p.m.
