KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both the Jacksonville men's and women's soccer teams were announced as United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award winners, the organization announced Friday.

A total of 777 soccer teams nationwide were recognized (326 men and 451 women) for maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or higher through the school year but of that total, only 175 had both programs honored, including Jacksonville University.

As a program, it's the third such honor for the men's program and the first modern-day honor by the USC since changing its name from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. For the women, it's the second consecutive honor from the USC and 11^th honor as a program.

Combined, this is the third time in school history both teams were awarded in the same award cycle.

The women's team, led by head coach Ryan Moon entering his third season, posted a 3.69 GPA which set a new program record for the team. 

The men's team, led by head coach Ali Simmons entering his fourth season, posted a 3.59 GPA which was the second-best GPA in the history of the program rivaled only by last year's GPA-record year.

Both teams helped Jacksonville University athletics as a whole reach a department record 3.57 GPA. The two programs were two of 12 teams across campus which earned a 3.50 GPA or higher for the first time ever. 

Of the women's ASUN schools, JU was one of seven to be honored on the list. The men's team was one of four conference schools to be named.
