TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In its final non-conference road game of the season, Jacksonville University (27-20, 11-4 ASUN) will west Tuesday to take on Florida State (31-18, 11-12 ACC) at Dick Howser Stadium. This is the 163rd all-time meeting between the two programs, and the third this season.

Previously…

Michael Baumann pitched a career-best eight innings in a 2-1 victory over Stetson (22-26, 10-5 ASUN) on Friday, but the Hatters won a slugfest on Saturday and came away with a last-second victory Sunday to take the series. This is the first ASUN Conference series loss of the year for JU, and the first two-game losing streak since March 28 & 31. The Dolphins ended that previous losing streak with a 13-game winning streak.

Scouting the Opponents

The Dolphins held a two-run lead in the eighth on February 28 and a two-run lead in the ninth on March 21, but lost by one run in both games. While the Seminoles started the year ranked as high as #1, they currently are not ranked. After playing JU the final time this season the Noles will have just two ACC weekend series remaining in regular season play. FSU is second nationally in base on balls (292) and 39th in the country in home runs per game, helping Florida State score 356 runs this season, 19th most in the NCAA. The Noles also lead the country in sac flies (33) and are 24th in scoring, averaging 7.3 runs per game.

On Deck

USC Upstate (21-26, 5-10 ASUN) will come to town May 12-May 14, and the Dolphins will host #25 USF (37-10, 12-6 The American) May 16 in its final home game of the 2017 season. The regular season concludes with a River City Rumble for the ages. JU and North Florida (32-17, 11-4 ASUN) are currently tied atop the ASUN standings.
