Dolphins Round Out Weekend with Two Home Contests

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Jacksonville's women's soccer team (4-1-0) will conclude this weekend with matchups on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. This past Tuesday, the Dolphins began its trio of home games with a 2-0 victory over the South Carolina State Bulldogs (0-3-0), marking the program's best regular season start since 2002.

The Dolphins walked off the field with its fourth regular season victory after dominating on offense against the Bulldogs. JU remained in control of the game by keeping the ball on South Carolina's half of the field and attempting more shots. Additionally, the game served as an opportunity for many new Dolphins to make their collegiate debuts.

"We are off to a great start and are happy with how our players have performed but it is a long season, so we are taking it one game at a time," assistant coach Annie Price said. "Right now we are looking to progress and we know we have a lot of tough games ahead of us."

Friday Sept. 3 will be the first of the two games, as the Dolphins take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2-0-0). Last time the two met was September of  2019, where the Chanticleers defeated the Dolphins 3-1. The game will be the teams seventh official meeting, and JU currently trails with a 3-4 overall series record. Similar to the Dolphins, Coastal Carolina is off to a solid start for the regular season after collecting wins against both Wofford (1-3-0) and College of Charleston (0-3-1) to remain undefeated.

Kickoff against the Chanticleers is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.

Sunday Sept. 5 will be the final weekend matchup as the Dolphins are set to compete against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (0-3-0). The competition will serve as the second meeting between the programs, the last occurring in September of 2000 under the instruction of head coach Mike Johnson. During the first meeting, the Dolphins defeated the Bulldogs, 10-0. Alabama A&M is currently in search of its first win after suffering three consecutive losses in regular season play.

The match against the Bulldogs will begin at 12:00 p.m. ET and is sponsored by Papa John's Pizza for National Pizza Day. Fans are encouraged to come to the game hungry and grab a slice of pizza before kickoff.  Visit judolphins.com for the latest information on all things JU soccer.
