Atlanta, Ga. - Jacksonville women's soccer forward
Anaya Black has been named to the 2022 ASUN All-Freshman Team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native led the Dolphins with four goals scored during the regular season. Anaya played a key role in helping JU to their first winning season since 2013, en route to the first conference tournament appearance in five years. Black's four scores on the year ranks 10th in the conference, and tied for first in the league for freshmen.
Black scored her first collegiate goal in the 1-0 victory over Alabama A&M (Aug. 28), following the performance with her first multi-goal effort as a 'Phin against South Carolina State (Aug. 31), helping JU to a 5-1 win. Anaya and her teammates had a six match unbeaten streak to begin the year, the longest in program history to start a campaign.
Black becomes the 28th player in Jacksonville history to be named to the All-Freshman Team, continuing a streak of five-straight year a Dolphin has earned Freshman postseason honors. She joins
Olivia Abdallah (2019),
Gabby Holtrop (2020-21),
Selma Fohrer (2021) and
Eden Skyers (2021), as current members of the program to earn All-Freshman Team recognition.
Anaya and the Dolphins travel north to Virginia to face #1 Liberty on Thursday at 4 PM, in the opening round of the 2022 ASUN Women's Soccer Championship.
