JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore ace pitcher
Jacy Harrelson has been named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league announced Monday.
Harrelson earned the honors last week and was back to her stellar self again this weekend at FGCU. The Warner Robbins, Ga. native won both games she pitched in down in Ft. Myers, pitching a combined 13 innings and allowing just two earned runs.
In the team's 7-1 win over FGCU, Harrelson kept the home squad scoreless for five straight innings. During the team's 3-1 win Sunday, Harrelson fanned four batters which put her over the 100-strikeout mark, at 101, for her sophomore season. She has 132 Ks for her two-year career in Duval County.
Behind her pair of victories, Harrelson moved to 18 wins this season. Her 18 victories bumped her to a tie for second place for all-time single season wins, the first 'Phin since 2016 to hit that mark. She trails only ASUN and JU Hall of Famer Sarah Sigrest Caffrey for all-time wins at 27.
Leading the playoff-bound Dolphins, Harrelson has been as dominant as they come in ASUN play. Harrelson leads the ASUN in conference ERA at a 2.12 clip. Her nine conference wins lead the league, as well as her 62.2 innings pitched and her 44 Ks are third in the league.
Opponents are batting a league-worst .197 when facing Harrelson.
Harrelson and the rest of the Dolphins look to duke it out with Stetson this weekend in a battle for the Graphite Division's top playoff spot. Currently, the Hatters (14-4) are a game ahead of Jacksonville (13-5) in the conference standings. The Dolphins have lost just one ASUN home game all year.
First pitch against Stetson is set for Saturday, April 25
