As a senior, Carr earned All-American honors by hitting .440 and led the nation with 32 doubles. At the time of his induction, his 32 doubles were a JU single-season record and, along with his 83 career two-baggers, were a Sun Belt Conference record. In 1988, he was named the Sun Belt’s Player of the Year.

Additionally, he batted .476 with 59 hits, 12 doubles and 46 RBI in junior season despite missing the majority of the season with a broken leg. In his sophomore campaign, Carr finished second on the team in hits (83), RBI (53), and batting average with a .336 mark and ranked first on the team with 24 doubles. As a freshman, he was the team's surprise player after batting .335 as a walk-on. Also in his freshman season, he finished second on the team runs scored (59), third in hits (81), and third with 11 stolen bases. After his senior season, Carr was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
